investing in power generation components,

which prospective
investor

will derive different benefits in accordance
with their
chosen investment.
Their platform includes soliciting investment for the production of solar
panels
and the electricity generated thereon will be sold to the government, major mines
and to d
ifferent enterprises
and from that
,
their prospective investors
will automatically
generate profits daily.
In
view of the

epresentation
s
that the said
company
is developing a solar power
station in the Philippines and they are in need of investors to help them grow their
business,
the
public
is inquiring
whether
CLEARWAY ENERGY INC.
is registered with
the Commission
.
Based on the Commission’s data
base,

is not
registered
with the Commission
as a corporation
or partnership.

Further, a report was received that a certain

Julianna
”
who introduced herself as
the
Reg
ional Manager of
CLEARWAY ENERGY INC.
is enticing the public to invest with
the
said company. Her scheme shows an indication of both a
“Ponzi Scheme”
and a
“Advance
–
fee Scam”
where an investor would invest Php30,000.00
which
would yield to
the amount of Php55,142.00. However, before one would be able to withdraw earnings
from his/her investment a payment to recharge one’s account is needed by paying 30% of
Php55,142.00.
A
“Ponzi Scheme”
is a scheme
where monies from new inve
stors are used in
paying “fake profits” to prior investors and is designed mainly to favor its top recruiters and
prior risk takers and is detrimental to subsequent members in case of scarcity of new
investors.
On the other hand,
a

“Advance
–
Fee Scam”
i
s a form of fraud and one of the most
common types of confidence trick. The scam typically involves promising a victim a
significant share of a large sum of money, in return for a small up
–
front payment, which
the fraudster requires in order to obtain the
large sum. If a victim makes the payment, the
fraudster either invests a series of further fees for the victim or simply disappears. Hence,
the public is warned to take extra

precaution in entering into these kinds of arrangements
with strangers that ask f
or up

front payment via money order, wire transfer, international
funds transfer, pre
–
loaded card or electronic currency in the most common form like
bitcoin. It is rare to recover money sent through this kind of payment.
